As the Business Development Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and inspiring our only BDR team focused on public sector accounts. You’ll lead and develop our .org BDR team and drive its ongoing success, which is crucial for Personio’s growth. You’ll also spearhead strategic projects to make our public sector team more AI-driven, collaborating across the organization to innovate and scale best practices in new business pipeline generation.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of BDRs through coaching, feedback, and ongoing professional growth.
Own and optimize key BDR channels to maximize strategic outreach into key public sector accounts, while driving outbound excellence in close collaboration with Account Executive teams.
Drive consistent achievement of pipeline goals on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis through expert guidance and motivation.
Champion a customer-centric culture by ensuring every prospect interaction is handled with empathy, urgency, and professionalism.
Lead and participate in strategic projects to develop the public sector vertical for Personio and make the BDR team more AI-driven - designing, piloting, and scaling new processes and tools.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, RevOps, AE, Partnerships, and other leaders to continuously improve BDR and .org processes and conversion rates.
Utilize data-driven analysis to identify areas for improvement, challenge the status quo, and implement scalable solutions.
Recruit, onboard, and train new team members to ensure ongoing growth and success.
Foster a high-performance, inclusive team culture where continuous learning, innovation, and well-being are prioritized.
Role Requirements: What you need to succeed
1+ years of leadership experience in B2B tech sales or extensive experience as a high-performing Account Executive or Account Manager in a SaaS environment.
Proven track record in pipeline generation and, ideally, closing experience.
Experience leading or contributing to strategic projects, ideally involving AI-driven sales processes or cross-functional collaboration.
Strong analytical skills and familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and sales engagement tools (e.g., Gong Engage, Salesloft, Outreach).
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with colleagues, direct reports, and stakeholders at all levels.
Deep understanding of sales processes and qualification frameworks (e.g., MEDDIC, BANT, Challenger Sales).
Fluent in German (C2 level) and English (business level).
Resilient, driven, and enthusiastic about developing people and optimizing processes in a fast-paced environment.

At Personio, we value in-person collaboration while also offering flexibility. This role is office-based, with 3 days per week required in your contracted office location. The remaining days can be worked from home or in the office if you prefer. In addition, you’ll have 20 Flex Days per year to work remotely from other locations.
