The Role

This role requires 2 days per week in the office and is based in Munich or Dublin.

This role is ideal for a highly collaborative engineer who thrives in a centralized platform role with a passion to identify & overcome system wide operational challenges by designing and implementing software engineering solutions that enable engineers to deliver change to production in a fast but stable manner. As a Senior Platform Engineer (Production Engineering), you will join the core team responsible for building and maintaining platform solutions related to AWS account management, centralized infra resource management, continuous delivery and kubernetes cluster management & operations.

What You’ll Do

• Manage the company's AWS account structure, organisation & permission boundaries. Maintaining foundational infrastructure while also actively monitoring cost & utilisation.

• Manage central infrastructure as code solutions that enable product teams to safely provision the infra resources they need while enforcing standardisation without causing bottlenecks.

• Support the SDLC at Personio by maintaining and operating GitOps based continuous delivery pipelines that support all worklords across all environments.

• Operate and maintain EKS clusters across all environments and runtime integrations for all workloads.

• Document platform capabilities and run internal training sessions where necessary.

• Drive technical excellence with a design led mindset. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the engineering organisation with the aim to simplify our platform architecture, build a golden path and help tackle technical debt.

• Take ownership of operational responsibilities for platform services within your domain, including on-call participation.

What You Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 5+ years of experience in a SRE, platform or cloud engineering background.

• Experience with cloud & infra concepts - E.G. AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog

• Experience with SaaS software development in distributed systems using programming languages such as Typescript, Java/Kotlin, Python.

• Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions/GitOps tools)

• You have a high quality bar regarding operational best practices.

• You understand how to utilize metrics to define and measure the impact of your work.

• You have a strong tactical mindset and can connect this to higher level strategies set by engineering management and staff engineers.

• You have excellent written and spoken English (level C1/C2 on the CEFR scale).

• You thrive in a blameless environment where every mistake is an opportunity to learn.

• Software engineering skills which help you understand the running application just as much as the platform on which it operates.

• Experience operating at scale in a high pace, rapid growth environment.

• You have experience with or passion to embrace new ways of working through the adoption of AI powered workflows using agents, skills & agentic feedback loops.

• Your platform experience doesn’t end with core infrastructure, but you are equally interested in adjacent concepts related to observability, database operations & networking.

• You have experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS/SQS).
