Team Lead, Content Developer (d/f/m)

Customer Experience
Full Time
Munich, Berlin, Dublin

Personio's intelligent HR platform helps small and medium-sized organizations unlock the power of people by making complicated, time-consuming tasks simple and efficient. Our team of 1,500 Personios is building user-friendly products that delight our 15,000+ customers and their 1.5 million employees. Ready to make an impact from day one?

This role requires 3 days per week in the office and is based in Munich, Berlin or Dublin.

The Role: How You'll Make an Impact at Personio

As the leader for product release-related Content Development, you will help drive both the strategic and operational success of our help center content, ensuring customers and employees can make the most of our software. You’ll also define process and quality standards, as well as create content that directly drives successful product adoption for our customers.

This role sits at the intersection of people leadership and content development. Your primary focus will be leading and developing the release-focused Content Developer team, but you will also stay connected to the work itself, writing and editing German-language help center content as a regular part of the job. We’re looking for someone who leads well and builds content well, and who doesn’t see those as separate career paths.

You’ll own the process and quality standards for release-related content, work closely with Product Management, CX Operations, and Release Management, and be accountable for how the team performs and develops over time. Native-level German writing is a core requirement, as is a genuine track record of managing and developing people.

Role Responsibilities: What You'll Do

Team Leadership and Development

  • Manage the Content Developer team directly, including regular 1:1s, goal setting, performance conversations, and ongoing coaching

  • Build a team environment where people have clarity on expectations, room to grow, and real ownership over their work

  • Handle capacity planning and workload allocation across release cycles

  • Identify each person’s development needs and follow through on them

Content Development

  • Write and edit help center articles and content as an active contributor, not just an editor of others’ work

  • Own the content quality and style standards for the team and keep them current

  • Work directly with product managers, UX, and support teams to gather accurate, timely information for content production

  • Lead content development for major product releases from kickoff through publication

Customer Communication

  • Collaborate with partner teams on the creation and delivery of educational content across all channels, including help center articles, newsletters, video tutorials, and in-app notifications, tailored to the needs of our international customer base

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the main point of contact between Product Management and CX Operations for content alignment, making sure what the team produces reflects where the product is actually going

Process and Operations

  • Work with Product Operations, Release Management, and other teams to improve how the release process runs, so the team consistently has the right inputs to do good work

  • Maintain and improve internal documentation so workflows are clear and new team members can get up to speed quickly

  • Shape the longer-term strategy for educational content, not just day-to-day execution

Quality and Standards

  • Partner with other team leads to define and maintain documentation quality standards across product releases

  • Use clear KPIs to track what’s working, identify what isn’t, and communicate results to stakeholders

Role Requirements: What You Need to Succeed

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in documentation, help center content, knowledge management, or a comparable field

  • Direct people management experience, including goal setting, performance conversations, and coaching on an ongoing basis

  • A track record of staying hands-on as a writer or content developer while managing others, in practice, not just in principle

  • Native or near-native German writing proficiency. This is a core requirement. Excellent English is also required for internal collaboration.

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with KPIs to understand and communicate the impact of the team’s work

  • Structured working style with good judgment on prioritization, especially under tight deadlines or shifting release timelines

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across teams you don’t directly control

  • Familiarity with agile environments and basic project management practices
