As Manager of Business Development (d/f/m), you will lead the strategic redesign and performance transformation of Personio’s Business Development organisation. You will scale four teams (~30 people) across our Medium segment covering both our core product and our fast-growing Payroll business. Two Existing Business Development teams and lead two New Business teams, partnering closely with key stakeholders across the company. With ownership of a €15M pipeline, you will build an AI-first, outbound-driven engine that delivers predictable performance and scalable growth.

This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of Personio’s growth—setting new standards for efficiency, collaboration, and market competitiveness.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

  • AI-first org redesign: You embed automation, intelligent prioritisation, and data-driven decision-making across Business Development workflows.

  • Outbound growth motion: You lead the shift from inbound reliance to a proactive outbound model that consistently targets and wins top-tier logos.

  • Org leadership & scaling: You lead four Business Development teams (~35 people), set operating standards, and build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

  • Team build-out: You stand up two new Existing Business Development teams and elevate two New Business teams into high-performing, AI-empowered units.

  • Pipeline & performance: You own a €15M pipeline, set ambitious KPIs, and use analytics and AI insights to improve conversion, coaching impact, and efficiency.

  • Cross-functional execution: You align Sales, Marketing, RevOps, Product, Payroll, Enablement, HR, and Talent Acquisition on ICP, territories, demand generation, forecasting, and insight-driven reporting.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • SaaS/Tech sales experience: You bring 6+ years of experience in SaaS or Tech Sales across both new business and existing business roles.

  • Closing expertise: You have 5+ years of SaaS closing experience, ideally as an AE or AM driving strategic wins.

  • Sales leadership: You bring 5+ years of SaaS Sales leadership experience, including second-line leadership.

  • Outbound & AI-driven BD: You have a deep understanding of outbound sales, customer engagement, and the strategic use of AI and tools to optimize business development processes.

  • Building from scratch: You have a proven track record of building new functions from scratch, including process design, change management, and team enablement.

  • Communication: You are fluent in German and English.
