Munich, 28 April 2021 – Personio, the all-in-one HR software for small- and medium-sized businesses, is coming to the Netherlands. This autumn, the company will open an office in Amsterdam. The HR tech company helps European SMEs to digitise and automate all people-related processes, so that they can unlock their productive potential. The Benelux office will be headed by Lars Boom, Country Manager Benelux, who has already started assembling the Dutch team from Munich and will seek to expand it even further. Boom was previously responsible, among others, for a program aimed at supporting European SME entrepreneurs at LinkedIn. At first, the main sales activities for Benelux will be carried out from the office in Amsterdam. Additional positions may be added in the future.

Personio was founded in Munich, Germany in 2015 and is one of the fastest-growing European tech companies. The company currently has around 3,500 SME customers across Europe, including over 60 in Benelux. 75% of these customers are based in the Netherlands, including GoSpooky, Channable, Skinvision and Lepaya. The expansion into the Netherlands follows a successful Series D funding round of €104 million in January of this year. This brings the total valuation of the company to €1.4 billion, making Personio a ‘unicorn’ and the most valuable HR tech company in Europe. Personio has over 700 employees with the goal to reach 1,000 employees by the end of 2021 alone. For the Amsterdam office, the goal is to gradually expand the team and build it into a major office.

“We are a European company and are passionate about supporting local SMEs, which are the backbone of the European economy. Amsterdam is the perfect location for our Benelux office. It is the heart of business in the region and has a very active startup community. Here, we are closer to our Benelux customers while making it easier to attract local talent”, said Hanno Renner, Co-Founder and CEO of Personio. “The opening of the Amsterdam office is another step in our growth strategy for Benelux and Europe. This is definitely going to help us fulfil our ambition to become the leading HR platform for European SMEs”.

“There is a strong need among SMEs for a complete and easy-to-use HR solution. Our rapid growth in Benelux in the past year demonstrates this. In addition, this is a real SME region, which offers us great opportunities. From our office in Amsterdam we can support even more local SME companies”, says Lars Boom, Country Manager Benelux for Personio. “Over 70 per cent of SMEs still work with manual processes and Excel sheets for their HR tasks. We offer them the digital tools to perform all HR core tasks faster, easier and better”.

Personio offers a complete platform for all HR-related tasks and processes, including recruitment, on- and off-boarding, absence management, time tracking, payroll, performance management, etc. The platform integrates seamlessly with many well-known business applications such as Slack, LinkedIn, Declaree and Culture Amp.
