At Personio, we have decided to battle paperwork and never ending, complicated Excel charts. We have set ourselves the ambitious goal to foster the digitization of human resources departments in small and medium-sized enterprises. With our single software for all HR processes we enable HR managers to focus more on truly valuable HR management. We are striving to be an active part of the HR management future and shape our product to the needs of modern companies.
The team behind Personio
We are an ambitious, digital, and international team with more than 120 employees; our headquarters are located in Munich, Germany. We work in an analytic but creative manner and treat each other respectfully. Our culture is characterized by an open-minded but down to earth atmosphere.
Personio was founded in 2015 by Hanno Renner, Roman Schumacher, Arseniy Vershinin and Ignaz Forstmeier. The management team has its roots at the Center for Digital Technology Management (CDTM) in Munich, a hub for a range of successful startups.
Hanno Renner, Chief Executive Officer
After working as skipper of sailing yachts for many years, Hanno decided to become the captain of a startup. He led Personio’s sales and HR teams to the point of 500 customers and 85 employees, which he then handed over to the experienced managers Martina (HR) an Oliver (Sales). Now Hanno focuses on scaling Personio while aligning the team around our strategic vision and communicating to investors and external stakeholders. Hanno holds degrees in Industrial Engineering and Technology Management from TU Munich and CDTM, studying abroad at Columbia University in New York.
Roman Schumacher, Chief Product Officer
Roman has started his entrepreneurial career with building websites for small businesses during high school. Following this interest, he studied Media Informatics with focus in human-computer interaction in Munich and at UC Berkeley. His studies were complimented with a Technology Management Degree from CDTM. Prior to Personio, Roman worked for early-phase Startups like Westing and Foodora. In his role as CPO he is leading our product management efforts by driving Personio’s product vision of becoming a holistic HR platform and establishing Personio as industry standard for HR software.
Arseniy Vershinin, Chief Technology Officer
Arseniy grew up in a small town in Siberia while starting to program with the age of 14. After founding multiple startups during the mobile boom in Moscow, Arseniy decided to move to Germany and study computer science at the TU Munich as well as Technology Management at the CDTM. As CTO he is the mastermind behind our technical architecture and enables the implementation of complex products.
Jonas Rieke, VP Customer Success
As employee number 2, Jonas not only built up Personio’s Customer Success organization from scratch but significantly contributed to our culture and overall development. Today, Customer Success is Personio’s largest department, truly living our operating principle “Customers first”. Jonas leads multiple teams in the area of implementation, service and growth. Prior to Personio, Jonas has studied Geography and Business Administration in Munich and at UC Berkeley. He also holds a Technology Management Degree from the CDTM.
Michael Kuntz, VP Finance & Legal
Coming from the consulting world into a startup, Michael has helped Personio establish and professionalize all financial processes as well as supported the successful closing of our Series A. Within the Finance & Legal department he leads people with various backgrounds and runs company-wide projects such as GDPR compliance. In addition he works closely with Hanno in developing and implementing Personio’s overarching strategy. Michael holds degrees in Business and Finance from TU Munich and London School of Economics.
Martina Ruiß, Head of HR
HR at Personio is more than a supportive function, it is our core business. Martina is responsible for the HR department, establishing best-in-class processes and managing all recruiting efforts. With her background from McKinsey, where she developed into managing the recruiting efforts for Germany and Austria, Martina is well-equipped for regularly doubling our headcount. Together with her team she is also driving company-wide employee engagement, development and feedback processes as well as establishing a people analytics function.
Oliver Manojlovic, VP Sales
Following his studies in Sociology and Business Administration in Frankfurt, Oliver pursued a sales career in multiple software companies. He developed into a sales leader, building and leading multiple teams. Amongst others he was Regional Director North Asia for Intralinks and Sales Director DACH at Github. Prior to joining Personio Oliver was Regional Director at New Relic, responsible for Central Europe. At Personio he is growing the sales function which comprises several Sales Development and Account Executive teams focusing on different segments.
Christian Weisbrodt, VP Marketing
Christian, who grew up in Berlin and lives in Munich since 2005, joined Personio after 13 years of Enterprise Software Marketing at Microsoft and Basware. He developed from Product Marketing over Community Management towards Marketing Leadership. Christian was Marketing Director DACH, temporarily also responsible for Sales and ultimately led International Marketing at Basware. Today, he is responsible for Personio’s entire Marketing efforts within the mission of “generating leads” and further developing our brand.
