Personio and Docusign bring Qualified Electronic Signatures to European HR teams

Munich - June 23, 2026 - Personio announced the expansion of its existing partnership with Docusign, the Intelligent Agreement Management company, to bring Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) to European HR teams directly within the Personio platform.

Personio customers have been able to use electronic signatures since 2020. Last year, Personio introduced Simple and Advanced Electronic Signatures through market leader Docusign. With QES, Personio completes its e-signature offering, giving HR teams the ability to digitise agreements while staying compliant. 

QES is the only electronic signature legally equivalent to a wet signature under the eIDAS Regulation, and Germany's BEG IV legislation has broadened its use across HR documents including fixed-term contracts and job references. For HR teams, this distinction is more than a technicality: using a lower-grade signature where QES is required can carry material legal risks.

Personio is the first European HRIS to offer QES directly within its platform. Customers will soon be able to select "Qualified" from the existing signature type dropdown, keeping the experience consistent with how they already seamlessly manage documents in Personio. Signers complete an identity verification, and frequent signers can save up to 93% of time¹ with Docusign's Identity Wallet, which allows re-use of a verified identity via passkey.
