Staff Product Designer, AI (d/f/m)
Personio's intelligent HR platform helps small and medium-sized organizations unlock the power of people by making complicated, time-consuming tasks simple and efficient. Our team of 1,500 Personios is building user-friendly products that delight our 15,000+ customers and their 1.5 million employees. Ready to make an impact from day one?
This role requires 2 days per week in the office and is based in London.
As a Staff Product Designer, AI you will help define the future of Personio's AI-driven HR technology. This role sits within the Intelligence product area, where you will shape the Personio Assistant experience and play a pivotal role designing Personio’s next-generation agentic offering. You will own the functional strategy for this product area and coordinate with stakeholders across disciplines to ship high-quality solutions that respond pragmatically to customer needs.
Alongside developing high quality AI product experiences, you will help evolve the design practice at Personio. Technical advances in AI are continuously enabling new tools and methods in product development, and Personio is committed to exploring and integrating the latest possibilities.
Who you are
This role is for an AI-native product designer: you use AI tools daily to think, prototype, and ship faster. You are already comfortable designing agentic product experiences to shape how autonomy, trust, and control show up in the interface. You are energized by ambiguity, want to build platform-level patterns for other teams to leverage, and see this moment in AI as the most interesting design problem available right now.
What you'll do
Design for varying levels of AI autonomy and control, balancing automation with user oversight in high-stakes HR workflows.
Design and iterate on feedback loops and evaluation surfaces that help users (and the team) understand what the AI is doing, catch errors early, and build trust in AI-driven outcomes.
Be a driving force behind Personio's AI platform, partnering with other product teams and with Design Systems to extend the Assistant’s core capabilities and build new agentic use cases.
Work at the leading edge of AI enabled workflows and bring new approaches to the design process. Ship and iterate quickly on live product surfaces — you are comfortable designing fixes and incremental improvements, not only net-new flows.
Manage entire work-streams, providing product direction through goal-setting and planning.
Develop thoughtful and inclusive design strategies for experiences across Personio. Balance ambitious, insight-driven goals with practical constraints.
Create high fidelity deliverables (including hand-coded or AI-assisted prototypes) that articulate and inform product vision.
Define shared design patterns, interaction primitives, and extension points, connecting disparate projects to avoid or reconcile avoidable divergence.
Uplift design through culture of excellence and empathetic support, mentoring designers and cross-functional peers and providing constructive critique and feedback.
What you need to succeed
Experience designing AI-native or agentic product surfaces — conversational interfaces, systems that take autonomous action, or workflows where trust and explainability are core to the product experience.
Understanding of how model behavior and constraints shape what's possible — you can partner with engineering on trade-offs, not just hand off specs.
Experience designing platform-level patterns or extensible systems that other teams build on — comfortable acting as a design partner, not just a reviewer, to teams outside your own, and co-owning shared standards with Design Systems.
A "product builder" mindset: comfortable using AI-assisted prototyping/coding tools to move from concept to working prototype quickly, and shipping smaller fixes without waiting for a full design cycle.
Experience and passion for one or more dimensions of design, e.g., Product thinking, Interaction Design and Crafted execution.
Experience in extending or creating reusable frameworks, tooling, rituals, playbooks, patterns or processes adopted by others that improve how teams work.
Proven track record of leading a product area with autonomy and shipping high-impact, multi-release product outcomes.
Comfortable bringing clarity to complex, undefined, or highly regulated spaces, with the accountability and judgment to make decisions independently.
