Senior Product Manager - Internal AI (d/f/m)

Data, Systems & AI
Full Time
Berlin, Munich, Dublin

Personio's intelligent HR platform helps small and medium-sized organizations unlock the power of people by making complicated, time-consuming tasks simple and efficient. Our team of 1,500 Personios is building user-friendly products that delight our 15,000+ customers and their 1.5 million employees. Ready to make an impact from day one?

This role requires 2 days per week in the office and is based in Munich, Berlin, or Dublin.

Personio is on the path to becoming an AI-first company, redesigning how every department operates, and the Internal AI team is leading that transformation from the inside. Central to that mission is Personio's internal AI operating system: the layer of internal tools, automations and agents each function runs on.

This role is the builder inside that. You're embedded permanently in one department, and your job is to turn how that function works into working automation: the volume of real, unglamorous process automation that makes a team measurably faster week after week.

You'll spend your time close to the work, sitting with the team, watching how a process actually runs, then building the thing that removes the manual step. Automations, agents, internal tools, Claude skills, and integrations between the systems the department already uses. You build it, you get it adopted, and you keep it running.

This is a role for a genuinely technical operator: comfortable writing and reading code, comfortable with APIs, and able to stand up and maintain what you build independently. A software engineering background is welcome, though not a requirement.

Role Responsibilities: What you‘ll do

  • The automation backlog for your department. A prioritised, costed view of what's worth removing from how the function works, sequenced against what one person can deliver and keep running.

  • Process discovery. A working understanding of where the department's time actually goes, at the level of individual tasks, handoffs and the manual workarounds nobody documents.

  • Building. The automations, agents and internal tools your department runs on, built with Claude skills, Cowork workflows, n8n flows, scripts, and integrations into the systems it already uses.

  • The full life of what you build. Ownership that continues well past launch. Most of what you ship will still be running in a year.

  • Measurement. Solutions instrumented well enough to show what they saved, and retired when they stop earning their keep.

  • Adoption. Whether the automation gets used in people's real workflow, including the resistance that comes with changing a daily routine.

  • Governance of your own work. Data classification, acceptable use and security standards applied from the start.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • 5+ years in or directly alongside an operational business function, with real credibility in how that kind of work gets done

  • A track record of taking undocumented workflows and turning them into automation that stayed in use

  • Comfortable writing and reading Python, TypeScript and SQL to prototype, automate and work with data

  • Hands-on experience connecting AI to real systems: calling LLM APIs from your own code, MCP-style connectors, or integrations against the tools a function actually uses

  • Hands-on with no-code and low-code platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make, Cowork)

  • Enough operational competence to keep your own work running: version control, sensible credential handling, and noticing when something has silently broken

  • Bias toward action in ambiguity, and you judge yourself by what gets adopted

  • Nice to have: process improvement or business analysis experience, involvement in a transformation programme, and familiarity with the core systems your department runs on
