Staff Product Manager - Internal AI (d/f/m)
Personio's intelligent HR platform helps small and medium-sized organizations unlock the power of people by making complicated, time-consuming tasks simple and efficient. Our team of 1,500 Personios is building user-friendly products that delight our 15,000+ customers and their 1.5 million employees. Ready to make an impact from day one?
This role requires 2 days per week in the office and is based in Munich, Berlin, or Dublin.
Personio is on the path to becoming an AI-first company, redesigning how every department operates, and the Internal AI team is leading that transformation from the inside. Central to that mission is Personio's internal AI operating system: the layer of internal tools, automations and agents each function runs on. The mandate is broad: rebuilding how an entire business function operates end to end, with executive sponsorship behind the structural change that requires.
This role owns that transformation for one department, and at Staff level also owns priorities that cut across multiple departments, shaping how the wider team prioritises, governs and works with stakeholders, and mentoring other product managers to raise the bar across the group. You embed in a business function and learn how the work actually gets done. Then you redesign it from first principles, working out how you would build the function today, and deliver what it needs to work that way.
You set the roadmap with the department's leadership and stay accountable until the new way of working is the way the team actually works. You'll work closely with our AI Engineers to deliver it, prototyping yourself to prove an idea works and partnering with them on everything that needs production engineering.
This is a role for a builder and systems thinker who is comfortable with technical work: finding your way around a repository, opening a pull request, standing up a working prototype in no-code tools. Engineering experience is welcome, though not a requirement.
Role Responsibilities: What you‘ll do
Build the transformation roadmap for your department with its leadership team, defensible in front of their C-level counterparts, with opportunities clearly mapped and sized.
Define the outcomes of the transformation with department leadership, translate them into metrics and baselines, and drive the results all the way through.
Design the department's operating model from first principles: which processes and workflows AI should run end-to-end, where a human needs to stay in the loop, and how decisions get made across the function.
Scope and design the products that make the redesign real: what each agent, internal app or automation needs to do, and what's in scope for a first version versus later.
Prototype hands-on in no-code and low-code tools, proving a redesign against real work before the department commits to it.
Deliver alongside AI Engineers, owning the requirements, priorities and results for anything that needs production engineering.
Land the change, resetting targets, roles and rituals where needed and driving the adoption and change management that make it stick, so the function keeps improving without the AI team in the room.
Own priorities that cut across departments, on top of your own department's roadmap — shaping how the wider team prioritises, governs and works with stakeholders, and mentoring other product managers to raise the bar across the group.
Role Requirements: What you need to succeed
8+ years in product management or operations at a fast-moving tech company or top-tier consultancy, including ownership of a transformation area end-to-end
Complex change management you've delivered inside an organisation, changing how a team works day to day
Systems thinking: you see how a function's processes, incentives, metrics and decision rights have to move together
Real product management skills and product sense: you've taken a live product, internal or external, from zero to one, and you're not afraid to get into the build yourself rather than hand it off
Strong analytics and measurement: SQL, and the judgment to set outcome metrics and baselines that hold up under scrutiny
AI in your own work and your team's: workflows you've genuinely changed, adoption you've driven beyond yourself, and the ability to explain in plain words what an agent, an MCP and a skill are
Comfortable with technical work: repositories and pull requests, the terminal, reading and changing a script, and building in n8n, Zapier, Make, Cowork and Claude skills
High agency with senior stakeholders: you scope ambiguous work yourself, carry C-level stakeholders without direct authority, and hold a position under pressure
Comfort operating without a predefined framework, in genuine ambiguity: you set the approach rather than execute someone else's
