The Role: How you'll make an impact at Personio

This role requires 3 days per week in the office and is based in Berlin or Munich.

As a Collaboration Systems Engineer in our People, Workplace and IT department, you'll own how Personio's teams collaborate at scale. That means taking responsibility for the tools, workflows, and integrations that keep thousands of people aligned and moving fast — and continuously improving them as the company grows.

Our current core platform is Atlassian Cloud (Jira, Confluence, JSM Assets), and you'll go deep on it. But this role is about more than one tool. We're looking for an engineer who thinks in systems — someone who can see across our collaboration stack, build integrations that connect the right things, and use automation and AI to reduce friction at every layer. You'll work closely with Engineering, IT, and People teams, and you'll have a real say in how we evolve our tooling over time.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

  • Own how Personio's teams collaborate at scale - taking end-to-end responsibility for the tools, workflows, and integrations that keep the business running, with Atlassian Cloud as the core platform.

  • Build and maintain integrations between our collaboration tools and internal/external systems, using REST APIs, webhooks, and modern authentication patterns.

  • Design and implement automation across the stack - from Jira Automation and Forge triggers to native automation in other collaboration tools - to reduce manual work and improve how teams get things done.

  • Manage and evolve our broader collaboration tooling (e.g. Slack, Google Workspace, or similar), ensuring tools are well-integrated, reliable, and adopted effectively across the business.

  • Own JSM Assets (CMDB) - schema design, data quality, automation, and sync with external sources.

  • Create and support AI-assisted workflows, including Rovo Agents, that help teams access information and automate repetitive processes.

  • Evaluate and onboard new tooling as business needs evolve, driving governance, adoption, and integration with the wider stack.

  • Collaborate across departments to understand what's slowing teams down, navigate trade-offs, and ship practical solutions quickly.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • A track record of owning and improving platforms at scale - you've taken end-to-end responsibility for a collaboration or business systems platform in a complex environment, not just administered it.

  • Strong integration and automation experience - you've built integrations between systems using REST APIs, webhooks, or similar, and you've designed automation that actually got adopted.

  • Experience with Atlassian Cloud (Jira, Confluence, JSM) - hands-on administration and configuration at an enterprise scale. This is our current core platform and you'll need to go deep on it.

  • Comfort working across multiple tools - whether that's Google Workspace, Slack, ServiceNow, Salesforce, or something else, you've managed more than one platform and know how to make them work together.

  • Engineering mindset - you think in systems, write scripts, and reach for code when configuration isn't enough. Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript or Python is useful; Atlassian Forge is a bonus, not a requirement.

  • Experience with AI-assisted automation - you've built or supported automated workflows using AI tooling (Rovo Agents or equivalent) and know how to govern and measure their impact.

  • Strong stakeholder skills - you can translate ambiguous business problems into well-scoped tooling solutions and influence without formal authority.
